AS Nigeria celebrates her 60th Independence anniversary, the Transition Monitoring Group, TMG,has regretted that the country had failed to live up to expectations of its founding fathers.

The organisation, in a statement by its chairperson, Dr Abiola Akiyode – Afolabi,regretted that 60 years after independence, the country was still “far from being the flying eagle of our dream that we aspired to be.”

“We have now become sleeping giants to multiplicity of societal vices. The root cause which are traceable to inept and corrupt leadership as well as our wasteful and flamboyant life styles,” TMG added in the statement it released marking the country’s freedom 60 years ago.
